Karen Tillery

Karen Tillery teaches art in the Upper School at the Academy.  Her classes include: 7th-8th Grade Art and 9th–12th Grade Art & Graphic Design. She grew up in Birmingham, AL.  Mrs. Tillery has a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Graphic Design, with minors in photography and art history.  She is passionate about teaching art; “It is a blessing to me to see the joy on students' faces when they accomplish something that they did not think that they could do.”  Prior to joining the staff at Whitesburg Christian Academy in 2005, Karen served as a designer for Southern Progress Corp., as a freelance designer for SPC and two other advertising agencies in Mobile, AL, and as a freelance interior decorator.  She is also the co-owner of GTI Properties, LLC.  She and her husband, Glenn, have four children.  They are active members at Rivertree Church, where Mrs. Tillery serves on the worship team, the building and interiors team, and the youth addition building team.  In her “limited” spare time, she enjoys reading and taking photos of her family participating in their many activities.  She also likes renovating old buildings.  Her favorite Bible verse is Philippians 4:13.
